Emergency Management

Emergency Management latest news!

-17/6/2026 Auckland Emergency Management are in the process of establishing the New Zealand Waiheke Response Team. They are looking for locally based volunteers to train and work alongside us during emergencies, supporting storm response, assisting with Civil Defence centres, and providing light rescue services.

You can find more information here: Waiheke Response Team (link) Waiheke Response Team. We are hosting an information evening at 10 Belgium street Ostend, Monday 29th June 7-9pm.

During an emergency response, first responder agencies like Police, Hato Hone St John, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, and Auckland Emergency Management won’t be the only ones who can help.

Communities are filled with people who have different skills and can work together to solve local problems. Community Emergency Hubs are a place where the community can meet, support and help each other and make decisions together about how to best ensure the safety and comfort of everyone in their community during an emergency.
